Electronics retailer Chips wanted a
flexible space that maximized display area and supported their brand identity. Fortytwelve’s
highly custom solution for their location in the Alkout Mall is designed around
a series of concentric circles rippling out at one-meter increments from a
central display. This versatile strategy increases display area with
double-sided arcing walls guiding customers through the store and a refined
palette of materials selected to give the store a high-end ambiance.
Fortytwelve designed the store’s
unique transparent displays to make the relatively small Alkout Mall location
feel bigger and more comfortable for customers. The curving acrylic panels are
punctured with a subtle pattern of squares to support a modular display system
of custom-made hooks and shelves that present products without looking
cluttered. Produced using CNC manufacturing, the generous displays rise up from
a tundra marble slab, supporting oak showcase units that seem to float in
mid-air.
Other materials used in the space
include microcement flooring inlaid with tundra marble and stainless steel
storage counters featuring recessed displays and concealed electrical outlets
that give Chips options for how displaying products and interacting with
customers. The light and reflective materials support the overall layout to
make the store brighter and more welcoming.
Chips Alkout is fortytwelve’s seventh
store for Chips.
