Located on a
prominent corner site in a growing community surrounding the Al Kuwait Sports
Club, The Bowl's first freestanding building is a small but highly visible
flagship for the healthy fast-casual eatery.
To attract
attention and foot traffic, The Bowl's two street-facing facades are nearly
symmetrical, with a spare design that emphasizes the corner entry. Carved into
the building's mass, the large curved glass entrance reveals a custom-made
green terrazzo slab extending inside, drawing light and customers into the
50-square-meter space. The restaurant's logo is featured prominently on one
side of the entry, balanced on the other by a porthole window for passing meals
to delivery drivers.
The white
stucco facades help keep the restaurant cool and act as instantly recognizable
billboards. On one wall, a pattern of small circular windows evokes the bowls
used by the restaurant to prepare and serve their dishes. The windows are
echoed on the other facade by an identical pattern of circular mirrors that
conceal a service entry into the kitchen. Although this location primarily
services pickup and delivery customers, a custom-made wood and terrazzo seating
island offers a shady outdoor dining option.
Inside, natural
materials and colors reinforce the brand identity, including oak finishes,
green metal trim and terrazzo, and generous interior planting. A custom-made
grab-and-go fridge maximizes the interior space and looks like an extension of
the oak-wrapped service counter separating the narrow ordering area from the
compact kitchen, designed by fortytwelve in close collaboration with The Bowl's
operations team.
